Did the checks get cashed?? I rcvd the receipt notice for both my wife and myself but the checks are not cashed for my wife (I cannot check on my checks that are provided by the company)

Labor Substition was a devil which has created most of this problem as I can see there are hardly 15-20% original beneficiaries for these 2002-2003 Labors.
Employers made Labor Sub a Devil by misusing it. It has been provided to employers as a valid advantage from employer perspective.
Infact GC has become a retention perk for the employer and from the employer perspective all they need is unlimited H-1B permits. All this added to the fuel that GC has become a perk to the employee because they suck up 6 years of H-1B servitude and not a Employer benefit anymore.
I think the Govt and USCIS start to think now that
H-1B is employer benefit
GC is employee benefit
and they are slowly moving to make changes in the current law.

I think the above statement is correct. There are 1000s of EB3 I folks in IV and they could have very well contributed a quarter or even a million bucks. My question is, what will happen after that?

Most people here are in IT and have IT friends back home.IITans and IIMs get the best opportunities in India. IT ppl even from ordinary universities have a great future.
But what about others? I have several friends who have a B.S,/ M.S / phd in chemistry, art, sociology, agriculture but have limited opportunities in India. They would love to explore oppotunities in US , Europe or any developed country.
India and other developing nations have other priorities. The government would rather help the poor or improve infrastucture then fund a research project.

I also think green card lottery, chain immigration, and refugee green cards should be eliminated and those visa numbers should be used for employment based immigrants because all these people can immigrate just like us through employment. We contribute more to the American society and should be given priority. I guess when we become American someday, we would like immigrants who contribute to our community too. Isn't that right? :)

This event has been registered at SJPD but no permit was issued.

If skill bill is passed in the same form as it is Americans will be alarmed seeing the inflow based on exemption of US based Master degree and STEM. Not only to Americans it is threat for current H1s and green card holders as well. The problem is those who have money in India can get admission in USA MS degree in any non standard college(I do not think INS can evaluate whether it is standard or not). So atleast 4 times of current MS students will come and they will get h1(I think Ms people has exemption in quota) thro Desi consultants by paying Money and get green card immeditely. This will defeat the purpose of skill bill itself. And also India so many people are doing MSC they can get gc easily here(As we know Indians or anyone will use loopholes to come here and get gc). If immigration is increased so much then it will impact all kinds of exsisting people. I think there should be control in number of h1s and also green cards. I am clear that both H1 and green card numbers should be increased but blanket exemption should not be given any category especially for H1. There were a situation on 2000 and 2001 lot of people returned India because of too much supply and Americans were angry with immigrants at that time especially H1 because they were laid off.
So basically increase of immigration should be based on supply and demand . The purpose of Labour certification is to verify whether any american is rejected for that job. But that is now just formal and real test is not done(it is not possible to do it. If they do it it will take years to clear). I think if they double number of gcs the retrogession issue will be resolved for atleast another 5 years

Mr. Vayalar Ravi , Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs,is coming to USA on June 27,2006. He is coming to Washington DC on July 4 to meet Indian Ambassador and Indian community. We should try to meet him personally and explain the problems we are facing. He can talk to US counterparts and do something for us.
Let us organize an event to meet him on July 4. Since It is a holiday, lot of people can meet him and chat with him.
Like he will care about us. If he does care, he can not do anything unless he gets OK from Madam Sonia:-)

So you basically want a piece of the discussion no matter you are involved in it or not. The OP asked for advice/opinion, and I had the right to respond because it is �asked�. Whereas you chose not to give your opinion, but just decided you wanted a beef with me, which proves that you have too much time on your hands for things that is not asked of you.
After page 2, I went after only those who attacked me for being who I am, that is trying to be morally right. And today I went after gvenkat who wanted me to "grow brains", and also asked me if I think the OP should go back home, to which I provided my answer.
So unless you were totally jobless, you had no business commenting. You only want to be a part of this discussion because somewhere inside you there is a conscience that is very guilty for not being what a person really should be. And what better way to kill that feeling than to shoot down anyone else that wants to hold people responsible morally.
