How many such cases are with uscis? And what happens to the one you filed for yourself?
During July 07, i know some of the couples did apply twice once a primary and other as dependent on the other. In July 07, wife and i did not take that approach and had separate applications. In August 08, i applied for my second 485 as her dependent since i would have to wait a decade to get gc through my application. For now, my other application shows under review. Once i get GC in my hands, then i will ask my compnay lawyer if there is a need for withdrawing my other application.

He introduced the bill because he knows the problem very well. So we don't really need to flood him to push him (to thank him makes sense). The focus should be try to get other Senators onboard.

"Mind my language", clearly this must be a case of lost in translation. I am not entitled more or less, IV can close shop today, I did not come to the USA because there was EB1/2/3 or IV fighting my battles, enjoy your journey. I Remember US companies directly recruiting from India during 1997-99 .This was a very costly affair for the companies. They used to take phone interviews, and then sponsor the H1B for the employee with very high Compensation, pay the tickets for employee and family( usually first class) , give hotel/furnished apartments for 1-2 months, Rental cars etc. This was done when there was a genuine need for the company to hire H1B's as they could not find enough qualified people in US. By 2000 the equation changed and small H1b companies started appearing like mushrooms in most of the big cities who asked for H1B filing fees. Companies were also gaining from this as they have no legal hassle of H1b and the rates were competitive.
I understand taking money from candidates to file H1 is non-sense. I haven't come across any company that does that when I applied for H1. I contacted couple of H1B sponsors. None of them asked for money. I was really happy the way I was treated by my sponsoring company.
However I dispute your point "some companies file petitions when there isn't an immediate job offer".
There is nothing wrong with this. That is the way consulting works in USA. It is a legitimate business model.

My APs are pending approval, I was told they reimburse if we write to them. Did they reject your apps and paid you back the checks? We also got our cards this 15th, what do we need to do at the SSN office, please guide.

No, I did not get a refund. I even got a mail for my EAD application being rejected.
If there is a process to get a refund, I would like to know it too.
But I am not too hopeful in this situation as I remember when efiling for EAD and AP, I read somewhere that the application fee is non-refundable.

The SSN issuing staff know what to do after that. This goes without saying take your GC with you. Nothing else is required. They do not even look at the passport or any other form of ID. GC is the only thing needed.
FYI got the new SSN cards. They do NOT say permission required from DHS to work. In fact the card is exactly similar to the one my daughter got (she is US citizen, born here).

I am planning to quit my job and go to india for max 3 mnths
I have a job offer and they are ready to hire me from 1 april 2008
what precautions should i take so i dont have problems while coming back

I would take 3 months of vacation (With written vacation approval from this date to that date)at present employer ( Even with "No Pay"), come back from India, THEN QUIT and then join new employer.
