Anyway will need to wait for USCIS stats to see how many they get by Aug 17th, but looking at how most lawfirms are still very busy with 485 filing I would expect a number midway between 200K and 700K (atleast!)

I like the idea. But, when I had raised a similar issue before, some member called it "like begging at Indian Temples".
I know we Indians are very happy as long as something is free, but get very upset when some contribution is asked for the service.

I second that...Why should there be a link between his req and his contribution? If we are able to answer/clarify whatever doubt he has..probably he would see the value in continuing with the group and probably contribute too...else no first timers would ever wanna join us

Another front to think about :
Recently I have heard that when the company publishes advertisement for the labor when filling for fresh PERM, every time there is a response coming back because of the higher rate of unemployment in the market. The issue is, if any response comes back then the company cannot proceed with the labor and new GC process gets hung.
So, to be on safer side just check on ur skill set before resigning the current job as it should not be readily available in the market.

My wife had her 485 FP on Friday. We had filed her 485 last month, mine was filed last July. Both our 485s have soft LUD on 9/26, 9/27 and 9/29. No status update. Should I read anything into it??

No TSC is not. TSC goes by priority date and not processing date. TSC I have seen follows different processing style. For e.g. if your namecheck/security check or some kind of check is pending they dont send you FP notice. Also they process applications if your PD is current/close to recent bulletin.

According to the following document from USCIS they issued receipts for approx 150K applications for AOS in sept. So my estimate of the total back log is
June filers 75k
July - 25k
August 200k
Sept 150k
Oct 50K
Total = 500k

Not trying to sound pessimistic� but I am tired of hearing about the so called SKIL bill without any sort of timeline attached to it. For all I care it seems to me that it might just lay dormant in the house for one, two or even five years without any consideration. Any one with more info should please throw more light.
With so much of steam building up around the SKIL bill, does the IV core team have any time line on when this will even be debated in the House? Is this on the plate for before or after the November elections?

Also one strange thing observed was that I have a receipt # SRC07264**** and my wife's case has a receipt # SRC07266****. Also we received the receipt notices 2 days apart.

Yes even our received dates are different, mine was Sep 28 and my wife's was Sep 27. Receipt #s are SRC07285**** and SRC07284**** respectively.

Since you already got H4 extensions with attached I-94s, current status is not an issue. The issue will be with his I-485 application as he was out-of-status when it was applied. You should try and go to the US consulate outside US and get a H4 stamped. In my opinion, getting new VISAs will not be an issue since it was an honest mistake on your part and as soon as you realized it you applied for extensions and you should acknowledge it in your visa application. You have to get this done before USCIS issues an RFE asking for your son's status information. For how long was your son out of status. The duration of invalid status has different implications. In any case, before leaving US, you should take advise from a good attorney. Once your son gets H4 visa stamped and re-enters US on a valid H4 status, his previous out-of-status issue will be void. Please note that re-entering on AP does not void earlier out-of-status.

The current pending applications happened after we had re-applied and were approved with no trouble at all. I surmise therefore based on your previous post that we should be in good standing and have no trouble when it comes to adjudication? What do you think? I might still consider going to get a stamp, just in case, or is this overkill?

ur just making what we refer to as a 'h1 transfer'. u donot have to wait till oct to begin ur work at the new employer. anytime after u get ur receipt u can terminate the first job and join the new one.

ans: as long as u have NOT terminated ur existing H1 employment, u can travel ( assuming u have a valid visa to reenter the US). it doesnt matter whether u applied for h1 transfer or not, as long as ur current H1 visa is valid and ur maintaining proper H1 status at existing emplyer, u shud not have problems coming back to US on H1. after u come back , depending on whether ur got ur new h1 receipt , u can terminate first job and join the new one.

as we have mentioned, ANY time after recieving receipt u can start ur new work...so why u waiting for absolute 1 or 2 weeks before july to start the paperwork???? do it 4 weeks before, and even if receipt comes early, nobody will force u to join then and there. once u have receipt, u can give whatever reason u want and join the new employer at ur chosen date....

As per my tax preparer's advice, I sent both the tax return and W-7 form to IRS ITIN Operation office in Austin, Texas. Is this the correct address?
